    1. What is the main objective of the LEAD Academy?

    A: LEAD Academy was established to develop the leadership capacity and competencies of all students in SUSS. We hope that through students participation in LEAD Academy programmes, they will be able realize their own personal growth and be a positive impact on others.

    2. How does the LEAD Academy integrate with other student leadership programs at SUSS?

    A: All student leadership programmes under Student Success Centre (Student Life) fall under the purview of LEAD Academy

    3. Can students participate in LEAD Academy while being involved in other leadership programs?

    A: Yes, student leadership opportunities provided by LEAD Academy is aimed to support student leaders’ growth in their leadership capacities to better equip them to tackle leadership challenges in their own leadership platforms.

    4. How are Stewards selected, and what criteria are used?

    A: Students interested in the Stewards pathway can register their interest when the application opens in October. All applications should be accompanied with staff endorsement.

    5. Can students apply directly to the Apprentice or Steward pathway without going through the Explorer stage?

    A: All SUSS students will automatically be part of the Explorer pathway. From there, students are free to join either the Apprentice or Steward pathways for the next calendar year, subject to meeting the pathway criteria.

    Apprentice: Automatic entry after successful election into Competition Group, Interest Group or Advocacy Group Executive Committee, successful selection into Advocacy Group membership, Community Engagement Leader, Scholars and other student leaders accepted based on case-by-case basis

    Steward: Entry is based on successful selection with staff endorsement

    6. Are there limits on the number of points a student can earn in a year?

    A: There are no limits on the number of points that a student leader can attain in a year.

    7. How often are LEAD points updated, and where can students check their progress?

    A: LEAD points are updated quarterly and students can check their points using an excel sheet sent to all student leaders through the LEAD email blast.

    8.Do LEAD points expire if they are not used?

    A: The last date for LEAD points accumulation will be 12th Dec on the year. LEAD Points will be reset by 31st Jan of the following year.

    9. Can students suggest or request specific leadership workshops?

    A: Students who have request for specific workshops can reach out to us through email to studentlife@suss.edu.sg

    10. Can students from part-time or postgraduate programs also participate?

    A: All LEAD Academy programmes are open to all students regardless of study mode if they fit the programme criteria and requirements.

    11. Can individual community engagements outside of SUSS be eligible for LEAD points?

    A: Individual community engagements outside of SUSS will not be awarded LEAD points unless they are representing SUSS on national platforms.

  • For Scholars

    1. What are the LEAD points requirements for Scholars?

    A: For Scholars that have received the SUSS Scholarship, Social Impact Scholarship, and Global Excellence Scholarship are required to remain in the Apprentice Pathway for the duration of the scholarship. This would mean attaining 4 LEAD points per calendar year (2 points per semester) until their graduation.

    Scholars who have received other scholarships are not required to fulfil the above requirements but are encouraged to participate in LEAD Academy programmes to accumulate LEAD Points.

    2. As a Sunburst Scholar, can my community engagement project that is used to complete my scholarship requirements be awarded LEAD points?

    A: The community engagement project that is used to complete the Sunburst scholarship requirement will currently not be eligible for LEAD points.
